ExRey is a new digital platform that allows video content viewers to get additional information and entertainment related to the video content they are watching in an easy way, without the hassle of manually searching for that information. It also allows video content owners and marketing agencies to engage viewers of their (or their client’s) video content in new, innovative ways and provide users with personalized watching experiences. It allows TV to become a two way street. It brings a new evolutionary step into the marketing industry – one where the video becomes the next generation billboard with the additional information hidden beyond what is seen on the screen.

In the summer of 2016 co-founders of Beyond Seen Screen discussed technology that will make watching television interactive. The idea came from the desire for additional information related to the watched video content. Often we want to know more about actors, producers or stories that we watch on TV and to get that information we need to manually search for it online. To simplify this process and make watching television more interesting, Beyond Seen Screen has developed a new technology that bridges the gap between the offline nature of watching television and the online desire to get more information related to the content.

How it works

Information flow

Using the Beyond Seen Screen web application, content providers, such as video production companies, marketing agencies, etc., can link additional information to their video content and make that additional information layer accessible to content viewers. Content viewers can use the Beyond Seen Screen mobile app to scan the video where the platform recognizes the video and provides viewers with the information that content providers have prepared for them.


The Beyond Seen Screen platform infrastructure has been developed and deployed to the cloud. The Android mobile application and the administrator/customer portal are also developed and functional. Extensive testing has been conducted in different environments. These tests have proven the technology works for users in the real world. The testing has enabled Beyond Seen Screen to attain technical readiness level 7 (TRL 7) in April 2017.

Originally, the technology was developed to solve the problems for the viewers who want to get fast and easily accessible information. Through that process Beyond Seen Screen realized how the platform can be used to resolve challenges that broadcasters and marketers are facing.

Broadcasters are losing their audience and revenue due to the rise of second screen use and lack of interactivity between the TV screen and the second screen. Using the Beyond Seen Screen platform, broadcasters can make their program more immersive, interactive and engaging for the viewers. Providing additional interactivity such as bloopers, interviews, sweepstakes, quizzes, etc., broadcasters can link their program with second screen usage, further enticing the users to engage to their channels which will generate additional revenue.
